AV MOD MATERIAL: NARUTO Ch. 643 Review

Wonder Ninja powers activate!
Wonder Ninja powers activate!

Obito's biggest weakness may have been finally revealed, but he's not going to fall victim to the same trick twice. He has just the plan to finish off the alliance with a bang to celebrate a special anniversary.

The Good

Some fathers just give their kid the key tot he cards for their birthday.
Some fathers just give their kid the key tot he cards for their birthday.

My theory from last week that Naruto will be getting a huge power up is becoming ever stronger after this chapter. The two Nine Tails are starting to share power, and I can only image that this will lead up toMinato passing all the power back to Kurama. It's almost a scary idea that Naruto has only been working with half of his potential. That would make quite the present for Naruto's coming birthday.

The concept of the fist bump has started to wear a little thin on me in this series. It started mainly as aKiller Bee thing. Now everyone's doing it. I don't have a real problem with the expression. In fact, I like it. Manga is littered with a vast series of cornier moments. It's a right side better than the Fusion Dance. I'm just concerned that Kishimoto is starting to abuse it.

The Bad

When did they start?
When did they start?

Someone tell me the point of this whole Hashirama versus Madara monster mash? That's a rhetorical question, of course. This whole clash serves a single purpose. It's to explain why Hashirama isn't helping in the fight with Obito. However, we're expected to believe that these two are fighting with such enormous creatures but have only moved a few feet of where their battle started.

I have to question the wisdom of Naruto explaining his Sage Mode technique to the person he expects to challenge in the future, and the person who has vowed to kill him.

Verdict 3/5

This all seemed pretty exciting up until I started thinking about events for the review. It then dawned on me. Remarkable little happens in the chapter, and it more serves as a slow build up for what is a pretty exciting cliffhanger. I almost wanted to give this a 4 out of 5, but does it really deserve that? It's a good chapter with some great art, but this entire arc has been little else than a series of one cliffhanger after the next. Perhaps it's more a case of the length of this arc testing my patience.
